Our story

Issímo, a family-run company, started out in the restaurant tourism business 30 years ago with the acquisition of its first restaurant in the historic and typical area of Porto - the Ribeira, the best-known and most important part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Chez Lapin restaurant, licensed in January 1938, is already a benchmark in traditional Portuguese cuisine. It has three rooms, each with its own decoration and distinct atmosphere, depending on whether you want a more cheerful or reserved atmosphere. This house is well known for its gastronomic specialties: octopus and oven-roasted cod, veal with Port wine, rabbit Chez Lapin style and many other dishes sought after by tourists from all over the world. Chez Lapin also has a beautiful terrace with a privileged view over the Douro, the Port Wine Cellars, the Luís I Bridge and the Serra do Pilar, together with friendly and welcoming service, which turns any meal into a special and unforgettable moment.

Right next door is the Casa Vitorino restaurant, similar to its neighbor. The family also has Downing Street, located in the heart of Praça da Ribeira and which, in the early 1990s, revolutionized group meals. From its balconies, we have the privilege of contemplating unique landscapes, such as the Serra do Pilar Monastery, the Luís I Bridge, the River Douro or the Port Wine Cellars.
